A church that lives community.
Walking together since 1997.
What began as a ministry became a home.
It all began with two people whom Jesus met in their despair and pain. That was in Hamburg. Over several years Gunnar and Corinna went through a school of life that had a lot to do with following Jesus as his disciples.
Their yes to this path gave birth to a non-denominational ministry with many young people. Today, almost 30 years later, Friends of Jesus is a church – one that is about far more than Sunday.
More about our story →Why church?
Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all.
Mark 10:43–44
From ministry to church – a natural development. What two pioneers once carried is now shared by many shoulders, just as the Bible shows: individuals planted churches, then elders were appointed. In this shared leadership we find protection and beauty.

More than a Sunday.
For us, community is not a by-product of ministry we do together. It begins with the free decision to invest in relationships – in everyday life, not only on Sundays.
More about community life →Important, but not everything.
Our services are not the only important gatherings of our church – and yet we value them greatly.

How we follow Jesus
Jesus calls us to follow him.
Discipleship does not only happen in courses but in the middle of shared life. Church should be a place where people are accompanied and grow together.
More about discipleship →What holds us together.
Jesus at the centre, the Word of God as our foundation and the Holy Spirit at work among us – this shapes how we understand and live church.
